Here’s how to utilize the principles of Pilates in your yoga practice:
- In order to open the rib cage and chest, engage the low abs and pull the naval in towards your spine. This will help open the chest and upper back without straining the lower back.
- Squeeze your inner thighs towards the midline of your body during Tadasana and backbends.
- While in bridge pose, use a block in between your inner thighs and squeeze tightly to help elongate the low back.
