Mental Exercise for Anxious Days

If you suffer from anxiety or are just having an anxious day, here are tips to both
calm your mind and reduce anxiety:

  • Deep breathing exercises help to not only signal to your nervous system to relax, but also to bring you into the present moment. Breathe in slowly, and breathe out slowly. Notice how it feels to be in control of your breath.
  • Create a mantra for yourself and repeat it every time you feel yourself becoming more anxious. Say, “I am peaceful and everything is OK” or “I accept my situation and I accept my anxiety. I choose to let it go.”
  • Finally, journalism or writing out your anxieties may help. Getting your thoughts down on paper and them keeping them there may serve as a release for anxiety.
