Balancing Act: Active and Passive Asanas

Just like we balance active poses in a vinyasa class by doing every pose twice -- one on each side, we balance our yoga practice by incorporating passive asanas practiced in yin and restorative classes into our yoga regimen. Passive poses, in which muscles are loose and we sink into poses supported by props, are just as important as active poses.
