How to Go Deeper in Downward Facing Dog
Here are some tips to go further in your next downward facing dog:
- Once in the pose, bend your knees and your elbows. Try to reach your tailbone up towards the ceiling, and then start to straighten your arms and legs. Make your arm bones and leg bones longer and stronger.
- Spread your fingers really wide in this pose. Press down with your finger pads and try to externally rotate your shoulders, bringing the biceps up and triceps down.
- Open up the sides of your neck and create more space between your shoulders and ears.
- Finally think about pressing your chest back towards your thighs, and your thighs back towards the back of the room. This will not only lengthen your spine but also will open up the backs of the legs even more.
